Hello everyone!
Today, Iβm sharing an easy and delicious Korean Beef Bulgogi recipe you can make at home.
Bulgogi is a classic Korean dish thatβs sweet, savory, and incredibly tender β perfect as a daily side dish or for entertaining guests.
I’ll also share a secret tip to make the beef extra tender!
π₯© Ingredients
- 400g (14 oz) thinly sliced beef for bulgogi
- 1 onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 green onion (diagonally sliced)
- 1/3 carrot (julienned)
- Shiitake or oyster mushrooms (optional)
- 1-2 green chili peppers (optional)
Bulgogi Marinade:
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp pear juice or apple juice (optional, but recommended)
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 tbsp chopped green onion
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 tbsp roasted sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp corn syrup or oligosaccharide
- 1 tbsp cooking wine
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (yes, again!)
π³ How to Make Korean Bulgogi
- Prepare the beef: Use a paper towel to remove excess blood from the beef slices.
- Make the marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients and mix well.
- Marinate the beef: Add the beef to the marinade and mix thoroughly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes β for even better tenderness, marinate for 1 hour or more.
- Add vegetables: Mix the marinated beef with sliced onion, carrot, mushrooms, and green onion.
- Cook the bulgogi: Heat a pan over medium heat. Stir-fry the beef and vegetables until the beef is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender.
- Final touch: Add green chili peppers, sesame seeds, and a dash of sesame oil before turning off the heat for an extra kick.
π‘ Tips for Perfect Bulgogi
- Adding pear or apple juice makes the beef much more tender and enhances the umami flavor.
- If you prefer a saucy bulgogi, add 1/2 cup of water to the marinade.
- Cook on medium heat β high heat can make the beef tough.

Enjoy your sweet and savory bulgogi with a bowl of steamed rice β it’s a perfect comfort meal for family gatherings or a special dinner! π
